Actors’ Intensive: Michael Chekhov Technique with Emma Brennan

This four-class series is geared towards actors and directors who would like to explore tools of the Michael Chekhov Technique from preparation to performance of a piece of text.
In week one participants will choose a 1-minute monologue from a selection of film monologues in class that they will perform in week four. Participants will explore flexible tools and techniques for effective and meaningful delivery of text. The tools and techniques are applicable to both monologue and duologue work.

Lead Tutor: Emma Brennan
Actor/Director Emma Brennan is a certified Michael Chekhov facilitator graduating from the Gaiety School of Acting and Michael Chekhov Studio Berlin in the International Michael Chekhov Advanced Training Programme and Teacher-Training Programme in 2014. She was chosen as first intern by tutor/director Joerg Andrees to intern on the programme for a further 18 months. She has taken master workshops and training with International Chekhov Tutors including Ted Pugh and Fern Sloan, New York, Sarah Kane, London, Jobst Langhans, Germany, Lenard Petit, New York, Ulrich Meyer-Horsch, Germany.
She holds a BA.(Mod) and M.Phil. from Trinity College, Dublin in Computer Science and Music and Media Technologies.
Emma directed her debut piece, ‘The Washerwomen’ an excerpt from James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake, which was adapted for theatre and performed at the James Joyce tower for Bloomsday in 2015 and 2016.
She played the lead role in a number of theatre pieces including ‘Anecdotal Evidence’ with At Large Theatre Company for Scene and Heard Festival 2017 at Smock Alley Theatre. She will be performing a devised piece with Georgeous Theatre Company in the Players Theatre in Trinity College in June 2017. She plays leading roles in upcoming feature films ‘I’m Talking to You’ and ‘The Priest’ post-production 2017.
