Bodyblow: A Filmbase/RTÉ Short Film Award Winner
Filmbase/RTÉ Film Awards Guidelines
This scheme awards funding for six short films a year. Cash awards of €10,000 (approx) are made to the successful candidates with full production facilities.
Three awards will be made per round.
Cash awards averaging €10,000 will be made to the successful candidates with a further award of equipment and facilities up to 5 days of equipment rental and 3 weeks of Lightworks hire for postproduction.
Some awards may be higher or lower at the discretion of the panel.
Projects to be submitted should be pitched at the amount available, with a duration and production values so that the film can be completed with the award money only.
We encourage applicants to consider the opportunities presented by digital production.
Awards are open to drama, animation and experimental works to be completed on film, broadcast quality video or digital format.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Three copies of the full and final script should be submitted to the Filmbase Office (Curved Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2).
Two copies should only have the name of the script on the title page but no identifying contact details.
The other copy should have contact details including name of writer, email address, postal address and contact phone number.
Scripts should simply be stapled in the top left hand corner.
Additional materials such as budgets and production notes must not be submitted at this time.
Scripts and additional materials will not be returned.
Full time students are ineligible.
NB The applicant must be a fully paid up member of Filmbase before applying.
Awards are made to directors.
All scripts will be read and a short list drawn up of approximately ten projects. Short listed applications will be invited to interview with their producers.
Principal photography must begin within three months of issue of contract. A final print must be delivered to Filmbase no later than six months after the start of principal photography.
Award winners must not apply to RTÉ for any additional funding for their project.
RTÉ reserves the right to two standard broadcasts in the Republic of Ireland of the finished film as per the contract. Filmbase will hold onto non-exclusive webcasting rights.
Previous award winners are ineligible for further Filmbase/RTÉ awards for one year after the delivery of final print of the film.
