Make a Difference in Your Community

Until the end of November, Filmbase will be supporting Better Together, a nationwide campaign which aims to build support for hundreds of charities, community groups, clubs and associations across the country. The national public awareness campaign aims to encourage the public to support these good causes and make a difference in their communities.

The 2014 Better Together Campaign includes:

The Better Together Video Competition

National Motto Compaign

bt motoDuring this decade of centenary commemorations we think it’s important to ask what we have achieved since Ireland took its first steps towards statehood. What unites us today? What are our hopes for the future? What should we aspire to? And can all this be summed up in a national motto? From 15 September you will have an opportunity to take part in this discussion by creating your own unofficial national motto for Ireland. Learn more here

The Charity Hero Award

btheroThe Charity Hero Award (in association with the Volunteer Ireland Awards), is a lifetime achievement award honouring a volunteer who has – over the course of their life – made an extraordinary contribution to a good cause. This Award is a unique collaboration between the Volunteer Ireland Awards and the Better Together Campaign. It aims to shine a light on those remarkable individuals who, year after year, dedicate their time and energy to supporting a community and voluntary organisation, club or association. In addition, the Better Together website is also a way for different sectors of Irish society to come together and learn more about one another – particularly, to discover what is going on in your local community. You can use Better Together to discover how charities are striving to make a difference to the people in your area; how businesses are trying to give something back; and how members of the public can get more involved with the causes that matter most to them.

To find out more, submit a video, motto or hero nomination, or to learn about how you can get further involved in your local community, visit the Better Together website.
