Boxroom Premieres at SXSW 2014
Boxroom, a self-financed Irish short film, had its premiere this weekend at the South by SouthWest (SXSW) film festival in Austin, Texas.
Boxroom is a short horror film about a teenage boy who discovers a strange and seductive creature growing inside his bedroom.
The film’s world premiere took place in the Rollins Theatre at the Long Center in Austin on Saturday, March 8th at 10pm.
Selected from over 4000 submissions, Boxroom screened as part of the midnight shorts competition, a key component of the event, delivering scares, blood, guts and mayhem and ushering in new talents.
First-time director Michael Lathrop worked with Producer David Lester Mooney developing the project together over the course of a year and were delighted when notified the film had been selected:
“It’s been a long journey, one year and two continents with a lot of talented people.”
The film stars David Joseph Magee and Erika Mcgann and was shot on location in Dublin city by cinematographer Narayan Van Maele. Boxroom was edited by Eoin Mcguirk, with a score composed by Steve Lynch.
