Submitting Short Films to Festivals
The latest episode of Film Ireland’s series of audio interviews with industry experts, InConversation, features Pauline Cotter and Helen Wells of The Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival (CFSFF), which takes place every year in the picturesque fishing village of Schull on the south-west coast of Ireland.
Tony Safford is the Head of Acquisitions for Fox Searchlight, who specialise in the US distribution of foreign films including British and Irish film. The company’s first-ever film was The Brothers McMullen, which charted life in an Irish-American family, and other films they have distributed include In America, The Good Thief, The Van and Waking Ned. Tony Safford was responsible for acquiring the hugely successful Once for US theatrical distribution.
On the 15th Feburary 2014 Filmbase, in association with beActive International, presented a filmmaking masterclass in how to finance a transmedia project, using their new release Collider as a case study. The event featured Emmy-nominated producer Triona Campbell, director Jason Butler and comic book artist Gareth Rowan, along with representatives from the UCD House of Science and MEDIA Desk Ireland.
Throughout his career Liam O Mochain has written, directed, produced and acted. He is the writer director and producer of the feature films The Book That Wrote Itself and W.C, as well as the shorts Slip Up, Grand Opening and Covet. Liam spoke to Film Ireland about tackling the challenges of distribution by mastering digital distribution.
