Executive Director/CEO needed at The Everyman Cork
The Everyman is one of Ireland’s primary presenting and producing venues and is the primary venue in Cork for middle-scale local, national and international productions presenting work by companies such as The Abbey, Druid, Fishamble, Corn Exchange, Landmark Productions and Ouroboros as well as providing an important platform for localand emerging theatrical talent.
The Everyman and Cork Operatic Society’s co-production of Pagliacci was awarded Best Opera of 2012 in the Irish Times Theatre Awards. In 2013 the Everyman was lead producer on the world premiere of Best Man, a play by Carmel Winters. The Everyman’s existing artistic policy is based upon the provision of a widely based, audience friendly programme of classic theatre, cutting edge contemporary drama, music drama, family shows and light entertainment.
2014 heralds a new phase in the Everyman’s history as coincidentally the Artistic Director and the
Executive Director/CEO are both moving on to pursue other projects. They will be leaving behind an organization in good health and ready to seek a new management team to build on what has already been achieved and to lead The Everyman into the next exciting phase of its development.
They are now seeking a new Executive Director/CEO with the energy, experience and industry knowledge to successfully lead the financial and operational management of the Everyman, including business development, income generation and human resources, as well as being jointly responsible, with the Artistic Director, for ensuring the strategic development of the Everyman. The Executive Director/CEO will be required to work closely with the Artistic Director to ensure the effective delivery of the artistic vision and will take an active role in in-house and co-productions. The Executive Director/CEO must continue to build on the strong internal culture of team-working as well as fostering excellent external relationships with partners and stakeholders to enhance the reputation and vision of the Everyman.
Essential qualities include a proven track record of achievement and at least three years’ experience at senior management level in the private or public sector, as well as an indepth knowledge of the performing arts and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the arts and venues in Ireland today. Senior management experience in an arts organisation or venue is desirable but not essential.
