Film Mayo to Launch
Westport on December 1st
Mayo County Council Arts Service will launch Film Mayo, dedicated to the development of film in the county, on December 1st at 6pm in Knockranny House Hotel, Westport. Film Mayo will act as a primary contact point for anybody interested in working in film in the county.
Events for the day will begin at 2.30pm with a networking event for Film and TV industry professionals in the La Fougére room, providing an opportunity for local, regional and national networking. Registration is required for this session.
At 4pm, the O’Raifteiri Suite will host a Q&A event, with a panel of film experts discussing their extensive experience in the world of film, covering the full spectrum of filmmaking in both domestic and international terms. This will involve director Pat O’Connor (Ballroom of Romance), scriptwriter and director Anthony Foutz (Saturation 70), producer Tim Palmer (Into the West) and producer Mike Cockayne (Hardy Bucks).
The Official Launch will then take place at 6pm in the Cocktail Lounge, with honoured guest Pat O’Connor.
Cinew EU Creative Industries Project will also be launching its Creative Industries Funding Scheme which aims to support attendance at international film festivals and training events.
The Film Mayo project is an initiative of Mayo County Council’s Arts Service, working with the former County Development Board, E.U. Creative Industries Projects: Cisnet and CINEW, Mayo Ideas Lab, Westbic, and Mayo County Council departments of Community & Integrated Development, Enterprise & Investment Unit and the Local Enterprise Office, all of whom will work in partnership to further the opportunities for the film sector within the county.
