Call Girl nominated for European Discovery 2013 Prix FIPRESCI

The European Film Academy has announced the five nominees for European Discovery 2013 Prix FIPRESCI, an award presented annually as part of the European Film Awards to an up-and-coming director for their first full-length feature film.

One of the five debut films nominated is Call Girl, an Irish/Swedish/Norwegian/Finnish co-production made with funding from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board.

Directed by Mikael Marcimain, Call Girl is a dense political thriller set in Sweden in the late-1970s. The film won the FIPRESCI International Critics Award (Discovery) at the Toronto International Film Festival, and it swept the Guldbagge (Swedish Film Institute awards) this year.

The nominated films will be submitted to the 2,900 EFA members to elect the winner. The European Discovery 2013 Prix FIPRESCI will then be presented at the European Film Awards Ceremony in Berlin on Saturday, December 7th.
