It’s a wrap!

The Capital Irish Film Festival

The Capital Irish Film Festival wrapped up with “After ’16”, an eclectic selection of shorts about the aftereffects of the 1916 Easter Rising commissioned by the Irish Film Board in commemoration of the Easter Rising. It was a fitting finish to a successful weekend of enthusiastic audiences, amazing visiting filmmakers and illuminating films.

Ambassador Anne Anderson was on hand Sunday night to put the Easter Rising Anniversary into perspective with a historic year for Irish filmmaking with nine Academy Award nominations and several wins.

Solas Nua Chair Paddy Meskell reminds us that the year of the Rising is also a year when Solas Nua is re-enervating its theater program, reinventing Irish Book Day (March 17) and continuing to bring the best in contemporary Irish art to U.S. audiences.
