JDIFF Gets Underway
The launch of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival
JDIFF kicks off tonight with the opening film, Calvary. A host of the film’s stars, including Brendan Gleeson, Chris O’Dowd, Dylan Moran, Kelly Reilly and Pat Shortt, will be in town for the launch of the 2014 festival.
Running through until the 23rd Feb, this year’s programme boasts an impressive line-up of films, workshops and events. As with all Irish film festivals, Film Ireland will be on hand to bring you all the latest, including news, interviews, reviews and exclusives. Now in its 11th year, the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival is a citywide event that encourages interaction between the public and the filmmaking community by hosting events such as public interviews, panel discussions and Q&A sessions. Some of the highlights this year include the Irish premieres of John Michael McDonagh’s Calvary, John Butler’s The Stag, Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skin, as well as over 100 international guests including Richard Dreyfuss, Terry Gilliam, and Richard Ayoade, and a special screening of George A Romero’s Dawn of the Dead featuring Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin performing a live version of their groundbreaking score.
