Want to get your writing out there and noticed? Write something where the means of production is within your grasp – write a web series.
The same elements apply to all screen writing; it doesn’t matter if your webisodes are only 4 minutes long, if you can master the form you can demonstrate your ability to write half hour, hour long or feature durations and with the right character at the centre infinite seasons.
When you show that you can create content that appeals to audience, financiers, broadcasters and producers will come knocking on your door, and you can pitch them your fabulous sitcom, drama series or feature film.
In this weekend course with Eilish Kent, she’ll provide you with the tools to get you started, test the renewability and audience appeal of your idea, ensure you have the necessary elements in place and also help you structure your content for maximum audience engagement.

Tutor: Eilish Kent
Eilish is a story consultant and script editor with 20 years’ experience in project development and commissioning in Irish TV. She worked in BBC NI sourcing and script editing projects for network and in RTÉ commissioning, developing and managing projects from the independent sector. While in RTÉ she commissioned over 100 short films, life action and animation, numerous TV series including the iconic Paths to Freedom. She also pre-bought feature films including Oscar winning Once. Prior to that she assessed projects for the Irish Film Board Development and Production funds and read for many independent production companies in London including Working Title and Ken Loach.
In 2007 Eilish originated the unique initiative Storyland to commission online series. StoryLand has proven to be a successful way to develop audience and break new talent. While Eilish was at the helm 25 new series were commissioned. The most successful being The Hardy Bucks, that grew to having seven million hits online. Eilish went on to commission three TV series of The Hardy Bucks and script edited their feature film Hardy Bucks The Movie, a success at Irish box-office.
Eilish works primarily in drama and comedy but has consulted on lifestyle series, scripted reality and factual programming. She has worked on true life stories, genre pieces and all formats from short films to feature films; online, event TV and renewable series.
Eilish has sat on many awarding panels for funding bodies. She was a decision maker at Eave for many years and also sat on the panel for the international Emmys.
Clients include The Arts Council, Avalon TV London and Animo TV on the IFTA winning reality format Connected. Eilish also works directly with individual writers. She teaches two courses in Filmbase, Writing TV Drama and Writing Low Budget Feature Films.
