Open Call for Artists in the Midlands
Are you a comedian, filmmaker, writer, painter, singer, musician, actor or performer from or living in the midlands? Are you interested in showcasing your work locally in conjunction with Ireland’s largest growing online network of artists?
Crewger is taking its hugely successful run of events for local artists on the road, with screenings and festivals to be held nationwide over the coming months.
What?
Crewger’s goal is to run a festival that reflects the work of its members at a local level. As such they are sending out an open call for artists to submit ideas for the festival. The look and feel of the festival will be molded around these submissions.
This event is designed to showcase the work of all artists in the Midlands area and as such they are open to any and all forms of artistic expression.
Where?
Abbeyleix, Co Laois.
Crewger will be organising 5 venues in the town, each with its own unique feel, again depending on the types of material to be showcased. These will include 2 bars, one restaurant, 2 ‘open spaces’ and an outdoor venue for buskers.
When?
The weekend of June 13th. (Depending on the amount of entrants, they may decide to run it from Friday June 12th to Sunday June 14th.)
Who?
Crewger is all about empowering all artists from students to established names. They are building an online network of artists from all backgrounds nationwide and providing them with the contacts and the resources they need to develop projects and find their audience.
The aim is to provide a social networking, project management and exhibition service for all artists. Crewger is different because you control the content and you decide what is showcased at these events.
Why?
The hope is that this will become the model for future events to be held by members in towns all over Ireland.
The event is in aid of Development Perspectives, and all proceeds will go directly towards a building project and a sports and educational programme in a rural village called Mwanga near Moshi in Tanzania. Admission to the venues is free, and there will be collections made on the night and in the preceding weeks.
