‘After the Revolution’ wins Best Documentary at NodoDocFest 2009
Director Leticia Agudo and Producer and Animator Paul McGrath from Dublin production company Whackala have won the award for Best Documentary with their film After the Revolution at the International Documentary Festival NodoDocFest in Italy on 11th of May. The film was made in co-production with Spain’s Canal Sur TV with the spanish title being Después del Zapatismo.
The 3rd edition of NodoDocFest was held on May 6-11, at the Ariston Theatre, in Trieste, Italy, with a particular focus on women this year. After the Revolution competed against 12 other films from 10 countries. This is what the judges had to say about the film:
“[it] has exposed a fundamental theme … : the empowerment of women, a subject taken in a very delicate way and with great clarity. The director was able to select fundamental and representative images … For the simplicity of the editing and the close connection with the lives of the characters it was possible for the viewer to get carried by emotions and live the social status of the protagonists. … a film that showed a clear historical context and evolution of what may be considered “third world” with a simplicity almost incredible in view of the complexity of the topic.”
