Shortlist announced for the Filmbase/RTE Short Film Award Scheme
Filmbase and RTÉ are delighted to announce the ten projects that have been shortlisted for the January round of the Filmbase/RTÉ Short Film Award scheme. This follows a gruelling shortlisting process where 343 scripts were whittled down to just ten. The ten teams behind these projects are currently finalising their production packages and will attend for interview at Filmbase in early June. Congratulations to all of the shortlisted applicants on getting to this stage.
The shortlisted projects are:
An Incident in Room 307 - writer/director John Mulvaney
Cold Turkey - writer/director Gavin Keane, producer Ruth Coady
Cured - writer Louise Ní Fhiannachta, director Mary Redmond
No Lies - writer Nora Windeck, director Eoin Heaney
The Corporate Support Superstar - writer/director Anthony Garvey
The Early House - writer Derek O’Connor, director Danann Breathnach
The Letter - writer Pól Ó Conghaile
The Nation Held Its Breath - Writer/Director Emmet Vincent, Producer Charlene Lydon
Warmth - writer John Sheahan
Windows - writer/director Ken Walshe
Three awards will be made in this round, each consisting of €10,000 in cash and a matching level of production equipment and editing facilities supplied from Filmbase. The awards are run twice a year and the next application deadline will be Friday the 26th of June 2009.
Recently completed through the scheme is short film Sunshower written and directed by Liam Gavin and produced by Maggie Mitchell for Samson Films. Sunshower has been selected to screen at the Palm Springs ShortFest, in Palm Springs, California, this will be the film’s world premiere.
