Abbeyfest - Music & Arts Festival, Co. Laois

ABBEYFEST - Music and Arts Festival, Abbeyleix, Co Laois, June 12th - 14th.

ABBEYFEST is a festival for the entire family. The work of local artists, musicians, storytellers and the general community will be showcased over three days (12th, 13th and 14th June). The main events will be taking place on Saturday the 12th. The entire event is free and all donations go to Development Perspectives, which is a registered charity working for families in Tanzania.

The event is proudly sponsored by local businesses whose contributions will go towards running the event.

Held in venues familiar to the community, the event aims to be a major part of the local social calendar. The entire event will be documented by filmmakers for a short documentary. There’s an open call to musicians in the area to come along with their instruments during the day and jam.

TIMETABLE:
The festival will open at 7:30pm on Friday 12th June in the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel with a Barbecue and Music followed by a Table Quiz and Music in Abbeyleix Golf Club.

On Saturday 13th June, the day will commence in the Market Square and Library at 10:00am. Events will run throughout the day in various venues including the Heritage Centre, Bennys and McEvoys Bar. Comedy, cabaret, theatre and music will be featured in Morriseys and The Horseshoe Inn throughout the evening and late into the night.

Sunday 14th June will be dedicated to the work of staff and students of the Abbeyleix FEC Arts and Crafts College. There will be a BBQ, Live Music and art displays, beginning at 2:00pm at the College.

The days events will be recorded for film by local filmmakers Lorcan Dunne and John & Ger Lynch.
