The Yellow Bittern in cinemas from Friday, 11th September

The feature documentary written and directed by Alan Gilsenan which unveils the life of the legendary Irish folk singer Liam Clancy, who Bob Dylan described as the best ballad singer he ever heard, hits cinemas nationwide from Friday 11th September.

THE YELLOW BITTERN which premiered at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival earlier this year charts the career of Clancy who with his brothers and Tommy Makem had musical success in Europe and North America. Clancy also had success as an actor even winning a Canadian Emmy Award. The documentary includes interviews with Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Jean Ritchie, Oscar Brand and many others.

Produced by John Murray and Anna Rogers for Crossing the Line Films with funding from Bord Scannán na hÉireann / the Irish Film Board and RTÉ, it is the first IFB funded film to be fully released digitally in Ireland. Element Pictures is handling distribution.

There will be two Q&A sessions on Friday 11th September:
Gate Cinema, Cork, producer Anna Rodgers will do a Q & A after the 18.45 screening
Eye Cinema , Galway, director Alan Gilsenan will do a Q & A after the 19.15 screening.
