Filmbase/RTE funded shorts selected for BFI London Film Festival
Two recent Tilted Pictures short films, The Mill and If I Should Fall Behind are set to screen in competition at the prestigious 53rd BFI London Film Festival. Both films were funded through the Filmbase/RTÉ Short Film Award scheme.
If I Should Fall Behind, a co-production with Fastnet Films, was produced by Rory Dungan and written and directed by Morgan Bushe. The film stars Paul Roe, Fiona O’Shaughnessy, Brendan Conroy and Shane Murray Corcoran. The film received an honourable mention at the 2009 Galway Film Fleadh. It tells the tale of a family torn apart by grief who attempt to get themselves back on an even keel. Photography on the film was by Arthur Mulhern with sound recorded by Susan Downey and production design from Helen MacDermott. Post production was done with Headjar in London and the editor was Gwyn Moxham.
The Mill, produced by Rory Dungan and Rachael O’Kane and written and directed by David Freyne is a pyschological horror film that also screened at the 2009 Galway Film Fleadh. The film stars newcomer Liam McEvoy as a young boy who, while camping with his family, wakes up one morning to find himself entirely alone. The film co-stars Lesley Conroy, Fionn O’Shea and Paul Roe. Photography was by Suzie Lavelle, sound design by Keith Lindsay and production design by Caomhin O’Conghaile. Post production was done with Screenscene in Dublin and the film was edited by Alan Freir.
