New Broadcaster for the Fingal area - FCTV
FCTV up and running fast!
FCTV is a new Broadcaster for the Fingal area. They are currently broadcasting on the web at www.fctv.ie until such time as their broadcast licence is obtained. The vision of FCTV is to provide high quality community based programming of interest to the people of Fingal. FCTV will showcase Fingal talent, events, businesses and anything that is of interest to the people it serves.
Since the motion was passed by the Fingal County Council to support the establishment of FCTV by whatever means practicable, the team behind FCTV have been working beyond the call of duty to raise the awareness of the channel. To date many local businesses have given support by offering their services free to FCTV and the team are actively seeking financial support from local businesses to enable the channel to make more programming by way of sponsorship.
Since the announcement that FCTV is a new broadcaster for the Fingal area the channel has gone from strength to strength. The FCTV team have been working around the clock engaging with the community and preparing for the launch of their new weekly show “The Q”, which will feature many volunteer reporters and production crew from the area of Fingal.
The show will consist of everything that is happening in Fingal and guarantees to cover subjects that will cater for all age groups. “The Q” is an Entertainment show, broadcasting once a week on www.fctv.ie
FCTV have been inundated with both beginners and industry professionals from the Fingal area since they put a call out for volunteers. Many people who have found themselves recently out of work are giving up their time to help build the channels capacity.
Since the launch of FCTV over 10,000 viewers have tuned in. This is unprecedented said Tony O’Reilly (Station Manager) We never imagined that we would receive such level of interest. Liz Kenny (Head of Productions) said, since we put a call out for volunteers, we have been non-stop interviewing and screen testing. The demand for this service is fantastic.
To date FCTV has received no financial support. The equipment and facilities to operate this channel has come from Lispopple Studios, who fully support the establishment of FCTV. Dave Byrne (Director of Programming) has stated that FCTV have many applications out with the various funding organisations and is very optimistic about receiving the support it requires to bring the channel to the next stage of its development.
FCTV aim to broadcast a schedule of programmes at www.fctv.ie on the run up to Christmas.
The category of programming will be:
