‘His & Hers’ scoops Jury Award at Traverse Film Festival

Ken Wardrop’s critically acclaimed His & Hers scooped the Best Nonfiction Foreign Jury Award at the Traverse City Film Festival in Michigan, which was hosted by founding member and Academy Award winner Michael Moore over the weekend.

His & Hers is an enchanting and affectionate appreciation for woman in all her versatility. From kitchens, living-rooms and hallways across the Irish midlands, it tells an intimate love story through the voices of 70 women, exploring a woman’s relationship with the men in her life - father, boyfriend, husband, son. Following sequentially from little girl to old woman, each character is woven with the others into one perfectly crafted cinematic quilt.

Produced by Andrew Freedman for Venom Films and financed by the IFB, the documentary has gone on to achieve great success since it premiered at last year’s Galway Film Fleadh, where it won the Best Feature Award. It since picked up the Audience Award at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, Best Cinematography at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, Special Jury Prize in Non-Fiction Storytelling at RiverRun International Film Festival as well as screenings at the Hot Docs and Silver Docs festivals in the States, to name but a few.

The film has been receiving glowing reviews since its release in cinemas nationwide in June and due to its positive Box Office performance it has been given an extended release.

The 2010 Traverse City Film Festival took place in Traverse City, Michigan from 27th July - 1st August where over the course of six days the festival sold a record-breaking 105,000 tickets, drew thousands of filmgoers to Traverse City and screened 142 nonfiction, fiction and documentary films.
