Conor Horgan’s ‘One Hundred Mornings’ wins at Rhode Island

Hot on the heels of its announcement of a US cinema release, Conor Horgan’s One Hundred Mornings has had further success in the US as it picked up the Vortex Sci-fi and Fantasy Award at the Rhode Island International Film Festival which took place in Providence, Rhode Island from the 10th - 15th August.

One Hundred Mornings is set in a world upended by a complete breakdown of society, where two couples hide out in a cabin hoping to survive the crisis. With resources running low and external threats increase, a suspected affair is driving a wedge between them all and finally, each of them faces a critical decision they never thought they’d have to make.

The apocalyptic drama has been a huge hit since its arrival on the international festival circuit; it premiered at the world-famous Slamdance Film Festival, Utah earlier this year where it received a Special Mention from the Grand Jury. It has since gone on to screen at the Galway Film Fleadh and the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival here at home, with Suzie Lavelle winning an IFTA for her work as D.o.P. It has been officially selected to screen at the Seattle True Independent Film Festival, the Indy Film Festival, Indianapolis, the New York City International Film Festival, the Revelations Film Festival in Perth and the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. It is also set to screen at the Portland Maine International Film Festival and the San Francisco Irish Film Festival in the coming weeks.

Last month the film was the recipient of the WorkBook Project Discovery and Distributor Award in the U.S, which facilitates a week long theatrical release of the film in L.A opening in the Downtown Independent Theater from 16th September as well as full social media, street team and media support.

One Hundred Mornings was produced by Katie Holly for Blinder Films through the Catalyst Project, a low budget filmmaking scheme co-funded by Filmbase, the IFB, BAI, TV3 and the Arts Council. Filmed over twenty days in County Wicklow, the film showcases the acting talents of Ciaran McMenamin (The Last Confession of Alexander Pearce), Alex Reid (The Descent) Rory Keenan (Intermission), and Kelly Campbell (Bachelors Walk).

The Rhode Island International Film Festival ran from 10th-15th August and showcased over 200 cinematic works, including 35 World and 23 US/North American Premieres. Following months of adjudication and review, the films were selected from a record entry base of over 4200 international submissions.
