Irish Short Film Festival in Ukraine this week
A showcase of Irish short films is to be presented at the International Film Festival Molodist in Ukraine, in collaboration with the Irish Film Board and the Irish Film Institute, which takes place from 26th- 31st August.
The festival programme consists of award-winning Irish talent from over the last five years including Oscar nominated New Boy, directed by Steph Green, Darren Thornton’s Frankie, Ciaran Foy’s The Faeries of Blackheath Woods, Ken Wardrop’s Useless Dog, Undressing My Mother and The Herd, to name but a few.
They will be presented in five separate genres including Irish language shorts, documentary and animated short, short comedies, experimental short films and films involving the themes of love and relationships. It is a unique opportunity to highlight Irish cinema, cultures and traditions in Ukraine.
Fran Keaveney, the Short Schemes Executive with the IFB will present the festival programme and will also be holding a masterclass on Friday 27th August to include the topics:
* Government support of cinematography in Ireland
* Support schemes of short films
* Selection process of projects and the financing stages
* Cinema and festival promotion, co-operation with television channels
