Update on call for entries to Radharc Awards

As the closing date for entries to the Radharc Awards approaches (Friday 10th September at 1700hrs), the Radharc trust announces details of the awards event.

The winners will be announced at a lunchtime awards ceremony in the Alexander Hotel at Merrion Square in Dublin on Thursday 21st October 2010. The Guest of Honour will be Mr Bob Collins, Chairperson of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, who will give the keynote address.

The Radharc Trust is also delighted to announce that the film entries will be judged by a panel of five independent jurors chaired by Ms Lelia Doolan. The producer of the winning entry in the two categories will receive a bronze Radharc Award trophy. Decorative scrolls for productions that are highly commended will also be presented.

Peter Dunn, director of the Radharc Trust, commented on the steady stream of entries coming in on a great variety of subjects for the two categories - category 1 being for broadcast documentaries and category 2 for films of any length which have been produced for other media.

Reminding producers of the up-coming deadline for entries, Peter Dunn remarked, “we are delighted to see this continuing interest in the Radharc Awards and that so many producers are continuing in the Radharc tradition of making documentary films tackling national or international topics of social justice, morality and faith.”

The closing date for entries is Friday 10th September at 17.00hrs.
