Radharc Award 2010 - deadline extended
Please note that following a number of requests, the deadline for entries to the Radharc Awards 2010 has been extended by one week to 5pm on Friday 17th September.
Category 1 is for a documentary programme of outstanding quality in the tradition and ethos of Radharc films, broadcast on any free-to-air channel receivable on the island of Ireland during the period 1st July 2008 to 31st July 2010.
Category 2 is for a documentary film of good quality and in the ethos of Radharc films that have not been broadcast. There is no restriction as to the length of the film.
The Radharc Awards honour the memory of the late Fr Joe Dunn, co-founder of Radharc Films. The Radharc team made over 400 films from 75 countries for Irish television from 1961 to 1996. The Awards are presented to the producers of documentaries of outstanding quality, which address national or international topics of social justice, morality or faith. There is no requirement that the documentary be of any specific religious adherence, but it should portray positive human values and should imply a challenge to the moral conscience of the kind that distinguished many of the Radharc films.
The Award
The producers of the winning films will receive a bronze casting of the Radharc man - a detail from the High Cross of Moone at the Awards ceremony in Dublin on Thursday 21st October in the Alexander Hotel, Merrion Square, Dublin 2.
