‘Crossword’ picks up Best Short At The Waterford Film Festival
The Filmbase/RTE funded short film Crossword picked up the prize for Best Short Film at the recent Waterford Film Fesitval. The winners were announced at the festival closing ceremony in the Greyfriars Art Gallery in Waterford City.
Directed by Vincent Gallagher, produced by Claire McCaughley and written by Hugh Travers, the film tells the story of a lonely woman who takes solace in the daily crossword. On a significant day in her life, she finds that the answers to the crossword seem to be all around her. She can’t decide if it’s magic, coincidence or something else entirely.
The film, starring Louise Lewis, Mark O’Shaughnessy and Maire Hastings was shot by Stevie Russell, edited by Martha Meyler and recently completed post-production in Screenscene. The same team were behind last year’s Lasair short An Cosc, which won Best Short at the Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival. Crossword is due to screen at the Foyle Film Festival on Saturday the 27th of November.
