Rockmount 230x240-1

Short Film ‘Rockmount’ Written and Directed by Dave Tynan

Dave Tynan’s short film Rockmount, inspired by the early life of Roy Keane, is now available to view online.

Rockmount was funded under Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board’s Signatures short film scheme and was produced by Michael Donnelly V for MDV. Since its premiere at the 2014 Galway Film Fleadh, Rockmount has won six awards including this year’s IFTA for Best Irish Short Film.

Rockmount is a comedy drama set in Cork in 1982. It follows eleven year old Roy, as he tries to make it onto the starting team of his club Rockmount. He’s up against it; he’s younger and smaller than the other lads. Doesn’t matter. This strange boy is going places.

The short stars Craig Keane Harrington as young Roy in addition to Aidan O’Hare, Dawn Bradfield and Shane Casey.

Speaking on Rockmount’s online debut, writer and director Dave Tynan commented: “We’ve had a brilliant time on the festival circuit in the past 18 months. I always thought this was a movie that was made for audiences as well as festivals, so it’s exciting to be putting the film up on YouTube. I think for both Irish people and football fans, it’ll be a good watch.”

Tynan is also the writer and director of the upcoming short film The Cherishing, part of the IFB’s one-off After ’16 short film scheme.
