In celebration of the eagerly anticipated return of cult TV series Twin Peaks, The Twin Peaks Festival Ireland will kick off with it’s first of a series of weird and wonderful events in Filmbase between 6pm and 8.30pm on Thursday the 6th of April.
TaxJustice On Thursday the 2nd of March, at 6.30pm, which will be opened by visiting human rights defenders from Kenya, Nigeria and Zambia. This powerful photo exhibition explores the real impact tax injustice has on women. Developing countries lose hundreds of billions to corporate tax dodging every single year, robbing the world’s poorest women of their health, safety from violence, access to education and employment, and equality, while weighing them down with unpaid care work. When tax avoidance and tax breaks starve public services of funding, it’s women and girls who pay the highest price. Three inspiring African tax justice activists will launch the exhibition, sharing their stories. These women, from Zambia, Kenya and Nigeria are leading the fight for tax justice in some of the world’s poorest communities. We would love to see you...

Irish artist Laura Mulligan, currently based in Lisbon, has created a new and exciting exhibition showcasing the vibrant energy that has become synonymous with her work over the years. Entitled “Chasing Volcanoes”, the collection celebrates the wild and exotic landscapes inspired by Laura’s travels around the globe. Often described as a contemporary Turner at his most evocative, Laura’s work will be on display here at Filmbase. The exhibition will be launched by Sabina Higgins on Thursday 1st December from 6 – 8pm.

The Arts Council Artist in the Community Scheme Bursary Award 2016 aims to support individual professional filmmakers working in the area of collaborative film. The Arts Council has provided this €10,000 bursary award as part of the Artist in the Community Scheme, which is managed by Create.
