Filmbase 25: Public Interview with Saoirse Ronan

Saoirse Ronan

Saoirse Ronan

3pm, Saturday 25th June 2011

One of the highlights of the day was a public interview with our special guest, Saoirse Roanan. Saoirse is one of Ireland’s truly great acting talents with an Oscar nomination under her belt and a string of internationally successful films. We were delighted that she could take some time to help us celebrate our birthday and talk about movies, acting and her career so far. Interviewing her on the day was filmmaker and actor Hugh O’Conor.

Saoirse Ronan came to prominence in 2007 with her Oscar nominated performance in Atonement. She was also nominated for a BAFTA, a Golden Globe and won the IFTA for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for the same role. Since then she has appeared in a wide range of films including The Lovely Bones, directed by Peter Jackson, and Hanna, directed by Joe Wright. She’s due to star in Neil Jordan’s next film, Byzantium, alongside Gemma Arterton. Only 17, Saoirse is already one of Ireland’s most successful actresses having shown an impressive depth and range of talent. We are delighted that she took time out to take part in our 25th anniversary celebrations in what was a truely insightful interview.
