Congratulations to the Irish animated series Puffin Rock, which has won two prizes at the Kidscreen Awards.
Nominated in the Programming – Preschool category, Puffin Rock won the award for Best Animated Series and Best New Series. Coming from Kilkenny-based Cartoon Saloon, Derry-based Dog Ears and Penguin Books, Puffin Rock joined other winners on the night including Sesame Street and Horrible Histories.
The Kidscreen Awards single out and celebrate the year’s best work in kids television programming and broadcasting, as well as digital media. They are held by Kidscreen, an international trade publication serving the informational needs and interests of kids entertainment professionals.
Puffin Rock is set on a beautiful island off the coast of Ireland. Oona is a charismatic and plucky young puffling, who along with her ever-curious little brother Baba, explores the diverse array of sea, sky, land and underground creatures. The series introduces a combination of preschool themes and soft natural history learnings to young viewers. The series is narrated in English by Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids, Moone Boy, The IT Crowd).
