After the drowning of his daughter in Dublin’s Grand Canal, John Neeson chooses to cast himself into a self-imposed exile, spending his nights in an abandoned council flat and his days carrying holy water from a city church and dispensing it into the canal in an attempt to suppress his demons. With his sudden departure, John leaves behind his wife Sharon and teenage son to fend for themselves. Both grieve independently to one another and in their own ways, Sharon searches in all the wrong places for any manner of emotional connection while Lawrence struggles to bottle up the explosive emotions of anger, sadness and confusion. Set over two days, a mother will fall apart, a man will be pushed to the edge and a boy will become a man in order to save his family from destruction.
