Film Ireland, Ireland's only cultural film magazine, is dedicating a special edition to an examination of sex in Irish cinema. The January/February 08 issue, guest edited by Mark O'Halloran (writer of Adam and Paul, Garage and TV series Prosperity), is an in-depth look at the history of representations of sex, censorship, sexuality and related themes as dealt with in Irish TV and cinema drama.
As part of the research for this issue, Film Ireland is conducting an online survey of attitudes to sex as depicted on Irish screens. It is hoped that this will provide a good snapshot of the public's current attitudes to the subject. Therefore, we are encouraging as wide a range of opinions be reflected in the survey as possible. The survey should take no more than about 5 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous.
Some of the questions contained in this survey are serious, some playful. None are designed to cause offence, and all questions are optional. The final page of the survey contains an open comment box, where you can leave any general comments you have on the subject that you don't feel may have been covered by the survey questions themselves.
Finally, there is an optional email box at the very end of the survey. It is not necessary to fill this in, but if you do we will email you when the results of the survey are completed. We will also enter all email addresses into a competition for a Filmbase membership and any medium sized, movie-themed painting from www.the-art-of-revolution.com.

Award-winning Irish screenwriter and actor Mark O'Halloran joins Film Ireland magazine as guest editor for the January-February 2008 issue. Mark is one of the most interesting writers working in Irish film today, with a singular and unique voice. His films have included the incredibly successful Adam and Paul and Garage, which is still on release in cinemas, and the critically-acclaimed television series Prosperity. Mark is the first of a series of guest editors drawn from the ranks of the Irish film industry who will be editing upcoming issues of Film Ireland.
