Photoshop for Video Editors

This course is specifically designed to appeal to video professionals who wish to extend their expertise in image processing. While Final Cut Pro is acknowledged as the worlds leading NLE program, it is not an image processing program and the focus of this course is on how to incorporate the many powerful features of Adobe Photoshop to enhance professional productions in the areas of Film, Television, Print and Web.

Notes, supporting documentation and workfiles are provided and the participant will be expected to attempt a series of practical workshop projects throughout the 2 day course. Students must have basic experience with FCP and Photoshop.

Design For Print
4 Days

This four-day course will cover all the stages involved in creating a piece of designed, printed material from inception to delivery of the finished product. Using a combination of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, the following areas of Design will be covered:

Broadcast Animation Production
10 Evenings

Using a model Flash animated film, the students will be brought through the logical order of an animation production pipeline using the following applications: Adobe's Flash, After Effects, and Apple's Final Cut Pro editing software, (including audio dialog recording). Students will start with basic story principles, and script writing for animation. They will progress to storyboarding their script, designing characters and backgrounds, and creating an animatic. They will finish their film with animating and lip synching their characters, performing camera moves, and polishing their film with special effects.
In conjunction with the animation theory, the students will be creating their own animated short film. The course will culminate with a showing of their films to fellow students, friends and family.

Flash Animation for Young People
4 Days

Filmbase is offering a 4 day immersive course in digital animation for young people using the industry standard software Adobe Flash. Over the course of a week, students will gain a grounding in digital drawing and animation techniques as well as an understanding of storytelling through moving image. By the end of the week each student will have produced their own animated short film. This course is very hands-on, practical and, above all, FUN!

Indicative course content:

The course is suitable for beginners through to students already familiar with Flash.
