Ghosthunters to be created by Irish company Egg

The elaborate visual effects for Ghosthunters: On Icy Trails will be created by Irish company Egg (Roy, Earthbound, Parked). The film began principal photography this week, and is slated for release in 2015.

Ghosthunters tells the story of Hugo, an Averagely Spooky Ghost who needs serious help in the art of haunting. Egg will design the character of Hugo, working from descriptions in the bestselling novel by Cornelia Funke on which the film is based.

This Irish/German co-production, which is partly funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, will feature Irish actress Amy Huberman as Emily, the receptionist at the Central Ghosthunting Institute.

Ghosthunters – On Icy Trails is produced by Lucky Bird Pictures in co-production with Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany, Lotus-Film, Ripple World Pictures (Ireland), Immer Wieder Gerne Film and Satel Film. The film is funded by FFF Bayern, the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, the Filmförderungsanstalt FFA, the Deutscher Filmförderfonds DFFF, the Filmfond Wien, the Österreichisches Filminstitut OEFI, the Filmstandort Austria FISA, Bord Scannán na h’Éireann/Irish Film Board and supported by the Bayerischer Bankenfonds and Section 481 in Ireland.
