Cartoon d’Or Award Nomination for Irish Animated Short ‘Coda’

Coda 230x240-4
Directed by Alan Holly, Coda tells the story of a lost soul who stumbles drunkenly through the city. In a park, death finds him and shows him many things. Produced by Ciaran Deeney for Dublin-based animation studio And Maps and Plans, Coda features the voices of Brian Gleeson (Standby, The Stag) and Orla Fitzgerald (The Wind that Shakes the Barley, The Guarantee) in addition to music composed by Shane Holly.

Coda was shortlisted for an Academy Award®-nomination this year. It has also achieved success on the festival circuit, winning awards such as Best Animated Short Film at SXSW and Most Creative Short at last year’s Edinburgh Short Film Festival.

Coda was funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, RTÉ and the Arts Council.

Previous winners of the Cartoon D’Or award include Nick Park’s Wallace and Gromit short The Wrong Trousers and Please Say Something from Irish director David O’Reilly.

The Cartoon d’Or award ceremony will take place in Toulouse, France on September 17th.
