Four IFB Funded Shorts Screenings

Screening at the Foyle Film Festival

Four shorts funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board will screen at The Foyle Film Festival, which takes place in Derry-Londonderry this weekend. The shorts screening are Cutting Grass starring John Hannah; Roy Keane biography Rockmount; animation Deadly featuring the voices of Peter Coonan and Brenda Fricker; and Tea With the Dead, an animation featuring the voice of Frank Kelly.

The four shorts will be screening under the Light in Motion awards, making them eligible to compete for an Academy Award® should they win an award at the festival.

Details on the four shorts screening at the festival are as follows:

Cutting Grass: It’s a hot summer and a young inner-city boy, Donal, is trying his hand at cutting lawns for pocket money. His luck changes when he meets Gerry. Ireland 2014. Production company: 925 Productions. Directors: John Kennedy & Ruairi O’Brien. Duration: 12mins. Screening begins at 12pm at the Nerve Centre on 22/11/14.
Rockmount: Roy, a diminutive 11-year-old, tries to make it onto the starting eleven of his football team, Rockmount. He’s up against it; he’s younger and smaller than the other lads. Doesn’t matter. His best friend is his black Labrador and he’s serious about everything. This strange boy is going places. Ireland 2014. Production company: MDV. Director: Dave Tynan. Duration: 13mins. Deadly: Deadly tells the story of Boney, a working stiff in a dead-end job. That is until he has a run-in with a spirited old lady named Bridie… Ireland 2014. Production company: Kavaleer Productions. Director: Aidan McAteer. Duration: 9mins. Screening begins at 11am at the Nerve Centre on 23/11/14.

Tea With the Dead: Frank is a gentle unassuming embalmer from Ballyconneely, a small town in Connemara. After Frank has washed, disinfected, removed and replaced fluids, applied cosmetics and dressed the deceased, he always makes two cups of tea. One for him and one for the dead. Ireland 2014.
