The Truth Commissioner 230x240

Political Thriller ‘The Truth Commissioner’

Funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, The Truth Commissioner stars Roger Allam (V for Vendetta, The Wind that Shakes the Barley) as Henry Stanfield, a career diplomat who has just been appointed as Truth Commissioner to Northern Ireland. Although he starts bravely, he quickly uncovers some bloody and inconvenient truths about those now running the country – truths which none of those in power wish to have revealed.

Adapted by Eoin O’Callaghan from the novel by David Park, the film co-stars Barry Ward (Rebellion), Sean McGinley (Braveheart), Simone Kirby (Jimmy’s Hall), Denis Conway (Brooklyn), Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones) and Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones).

The Truth Commissioner screened last Sunday at the Audi Dublin International Film Festival to a positive audience reception.

Produced by David Collins, Kevin Jackson and Eoin O’Callaghan for Samson Films and Big Fish Films, The Truth Commissioner was funded by the IFB, BBC Northern Ireland, BAI, and Northern Ireland Screen.
