SCREENING: Skin in the Game screening and Q&A in Pavilion

Skin in the Game screening and Q&A in Pavilion, Dun Laoghaire, this week.

Skin in the Game, Donald Taylor Black’s IFTA-nominated documentary, will screen at the Pavilion Theatre, Dun Laoghaire, this Wednesday, October 9th, from 8pm. Following the film, there will be a discussion featuring Christy Moore, Professor Gerald Dawe and the film’s director.

This documentary, which was supported by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, examines the current financial and political crisis through the responses of a number of Irish artists who are using it as subject matter for their work. It also looks at the nature of creative inspiration, how and why artists choose what to make work about.

Participants include: Christy Moore (musician); Seán Hillen (photographer); Rita Ann Higgins (poet); Brian Maguire (painter); David Quin (animator); Anthony Haughey (photographer); Nicky Gogan (filmmaker); David Bolger (choreographer); Gerald Dawe (poet); and David Monahan (photographer). Roddy Doyle has written texts for the film that are voiced by actors including Lorcan Cranitch and Hilda Fay.

Skin in the Game will also visit the Droichead Arts Centre, Drogheda, on October 29th and the Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge, on November 6th.
